A compilation of papers and publications presented to CHS by long-time Librarian Albert Carlos Bates. Contains both personal and professional material acquired by Bates. Includes pre-publication materials from an Acorn Club publication, Bates family documents, biographical information about Bates, Bates' research on Connecticut broadsides, papers given, professional correspondence, and research material. The research material consists of documents from British and Massachusetts repositories as well as numerous lists made by Bates regarding items in the collections of CHS, particularly newspapers and paintings. Bates died in 1954.
